Shelburne Bay
Located on Cape York Peninsula's east coast north of Cape Grenville, 150 kilometres south-southeast of Thursday Island, 150 kilometres northeast of Weipa and 640 kilometres north-northwest of Cairns, Shelburne Bay is noted for the mobile parabolic white silica sand dunes of the Shelburne Bay dune field and a range of largely undisturbed vegetation ranging from heathlands to rainforest and eucalypt woodlands which lie within the Wuthathi (Shelburne Bay) National Park (CYPAL).
The bay's extensive seagrass beds are important feeding grounds for dugongs.
