Wujal Wujal Aboriginal Shire

Located in Kuku Yalanji country on Cape York Peninsula's east coast, the Aboriginal community of Wujal Wujal ('many falls') on the Bloomfield River, thirty kilometres north of Cape Tribulation and sixty south of Cooktown, was formerly the Bloomfield River Mission.

While a sealed road links Wujal Wujal to Cooktown, access from the south is via the unsealed Bloomfield Track from Cape Tribulation. Steep gradients, rough terrain, and numerous streams make the track unsuitable for regular vehicles and often impassable during the Northern wet season.

The Wujal Wujal Aboriginal Shire was excised from the Douglas Shire and consists of a single locality split into two disjoint areas separated by the Bloomfield River, which remains part of the Douglas Shire. The community is managed as a Deed of Grant in Trust under the Local Government (Community Government Areas) Act 2004.
