What Mob Is That?

Araba

Norman Tindale's Aboriginal Tribes of Australia places the Araba (alternatively, A:rap, Aripa, Ngariba (Walangama exonym)) on 10,000 square kilometres of territory east of Normanton around Miranda Downs, and Van Rook. This territory extends south to the Gilbert River, north beyond Pelican Creek, and no farther east than the head of Emu Creek. In post-contact times, they moved west towards Normanton, where their westernmost camp was on the township's east side.

Although they do not appear on the AIATSIS Map of Indigenous Australia, the Institute's AustLang Project assigns them a code (Y107) with a variation in spelling (Areba), suggests their language is a dialect of Kurtjar and places them in the same location as Tindale.
