Yadhaykenu

In Norman Tindale's reckoning, the Yadhaykenu, who he labelled the Jathaikana (a.k.a. Yathaikeno, Yadaigan, Yaraidyana, Yäraidyana, Yaraikana, Yaldaigan, Yarakino, Yandigan, Yaraikanna, Yaraikkanna, Yardaikan, Yarudolaiga (name given by Kaurareg, correct form Yařadaigalai)), Induyamo, Yadhaigana) occupied around 800 square kilometres of country from the Escape River south to about Orford Ness, inland to the Main Range. They spoke a dialect of Uradhi. The name appears to originate from the Western and Central Torres Strait Kalau Lagaw Ya Yařadaigala(Kaurareg dialect yařadaigalai~yařadegale) "talkers, chatterers, people who speak a lot".

Their numbers when John Jardine established the settlement at Somerset at the tip of Cape York in July 1864 have been estimated to range between 1,500 and 1,600.
