Hypercard
Described by its creator as a "software erector set", HyperCard was a software application and development kit for Macintosh and Apple IIGS computers originally released in 1987 and withdrawn from sale in March 2004, six years after it received its final update. As one of the first hypermedia systems, it preceded the World Wide Web and combined a flat-file database with a user-modifiable interface, a built-in programming language, flexible graphics support, and easy programming.
HyperCard was not ported to Mac OS X when Steve Jobs returned to Apple, but can run in the Classic Environment on versions of Mac OS X that support it.
