Australian Alps

Located in the southeast corner of mainland Australia, the Australian Alps straddle the borders of eastern Victoria, southeastern New South Wales, and the Australian Capital Territory. This 12,330 square kilometre segment of the Great Dividing Range contains mainland Australia's only peaks exceeding 2,000 m in elevation, and its two biogeographic sub-regions — the Snowy Mountains, in New South Wales and the Australian Capital Territory; and Victoria's "High Country" — in which deep snow falls every year.
