Isaac Region
Created in March 2008 as a result of the report of the Local Government Reform Commission, the Isaac Region amalgamated three previous and distinct local government areas: Belyando Shire, Broadsound Shire and Nebo Shire.The region, which covers an area of 58,708 square kilometres, takes its name from the Isaac River, named after Frederick Isaac, who accompanied Ludwig Leichhardt on his first expedition.
The Isaac Region includes the following settlements and localities:
Belyando area
Broadsound area
Nebo area
The region also includes several uninhabited islands, including the Flat Isles.
