Lucinda Point

Lying at the southern end of the Hinchinbrook Channel around twenty-four kilometres northeast of Ingham and one hundred kilometres north-northwest of Townsville in Biyaygiri country, in the Hinscinbrook Shire, Lucinda Point's six-kilometre jetty is the world's largest bulk sugar loading facility and curves with the Earth -— there is a two-metre difference in height between the facility's ends.

The headland on the Herbert River estuary's southern shore and the township that developed on it after Townsville's Rooney Brothers were contracted to build a storage shed and jetty to handle sugar from the Colonial Sugar Refining Company's Victoria mill in 1896, takes its name from the Queensland Government steam yacht, Lucinda, that was in turn named after Lady Lucinda Musgrave, wife of the Queensland Governor Sir Anthony Musgrave. An existing harbour inside the estuary at Dungeness was deemed unviable due to shifting sandbanks.
