Located in Kuku Yalanji Country around 40 kilometres south-southeast of Cooktown and around 40 kilometres north-northwest of Cape Tribulation, Cedar Bay (Kuku Yalanjii: Mangkalba) attracted considerable media attention in the wake of the controversial raid by the Queensland Police on 29 August 1976.
