Dyirbalŋan
While Norman Tindale's Aboriginal Tribes of Australia places the Dyirbalŋan (alternatively, Djirbal, Dyirbal, Dyirbaldyi, Dyirbalnga, Tjirbal, Chirpalji, Chirpa, Choolngai (Wakara tribe), Njirma (horde at Ravenshoe)), on around 2800 square kilometres of tropical rainforest country on the plateau between Herberton and the Tully Falls, extending south to the Herbert River's headwaters. The AIATSIS Map of Indigenous Australia adds a coastal section east of Tully to the Djirbalngan territory, with the Djabugandji as their northern neighbours, the Yidinji to the northeast, the Wargamaygan to the south and the Gugu-Badhun and Mbaram to the west.
