Tjungundji



In NNorman Tindale's reckoning, the Tjungundji (a.k.a. Tjongkandji,/Tjungundji/ Tyongandyi/ Chongandji/ Tjongangi/ Tjungundji/Joonkoonjee/Joongoonjie/ Chunkunji/ Chinganji/ Ngucrand (possibly a horde), a 'Mapoon tribe', occupied an area of about 400- square kilometres inland from Cullen Point (known in their language, according to Walter Roth's transcription as Tratha-m-ballayallyana[a]) on the Port Musgrave coast on the west side of the Batavia River estuary, extending southwards for around 24 kilometres to Janie Creek.
