Yuru
The AIATSIS Map of Indigenous Australia places the Yuru people (alternatively, Juru, Euronbba, Mal Mal, Malma) on Queensland's east coast, with the Bindal to their north, the Gugu-Badhun to the west, and the Biri and Giya to their south.
They appear in Norman Tindale's classification as the Juru, occupying about 3,100 square kilometres around Upstart Bay between Bowen and the Burdekin River's southern bank. Their territory extended inland to the Bogie Range and as far south as Mount Pleasant and Mount Abbot.
Successful native title claims over areas between Ayr and Bowen in 2010 and 2015 led to a dispute between the claimants and the owners of one hundred thirty fishing huts around the Elliot River mouth and Mount Curlewis.
