The Evolution and the Outcome
After I decided to write something about The North, the predictable next step was to start writing, although I didn't have a clear idea of where this notion was going. While the first efforts weren't entirely satisfactory, and it soon became evident I'd bitten off more than I could comfortably chew, those issues slowly resolved themselves.
It didn't take long to realise I wasn't writing a book; I was producing a bookshelf. Some titles on the shelf would be all my work; others would be collections of the sources and readings I'd consulted in the writing process.
Inevitably, there would be footnotes and other support material. I already had a filing cabinet on my computer's hard drive containing such material. What about another one located underneath the developing bookshelf?
After considering those matters, a listing of the contents may point readers in the direction they'd like to take.
