Texts, Sources and Readings

In my undergraduate days, reading lists often included titles like Manning Clark's Select Documents in Australian History (Sydney, Angus and Robertson, 1950-1955. Volume 1. 1788-1850; Volume 2. 1851-1900).

They gave students access to archival material and other primary sources that would otherwise be out of reach.

In this project, I have used material from copyright-free sources, including Project Gutenberg and the Internet Archive.

That copyright-free material might not be out of reach, but it isn't always easy to find and retrieve.

As I juggled a mass of content into a workable environment, I realised that a volume of Sources and Readings could accompany each of the project's main strands. Each book provides specific documents or sections of a more extensive work.

Oft-cited items could appear in their entirety as a stand-alone volume in Texts. Sections of a particular text also may appear in the relevant set of Sources and Readings.
