Dalrymple Road

In the new Townsville road network, Dalrymple Road is the first section of the Garbutt–Upper Ross Road, which runs for 18.7 kilometres from Woolcock Street (relabelled as North Townsville Road) in Garbutt to Riverway Drive in Kelso.
Running southwest, the four-lane divided road initially follows the boundary between Garbutt and Currajong, then between Garbutt and Vincent to an intersection with Nathan Street (relabelled as Douglas–Garbutt Road). This section of Dalrymple Road was formerly a World War I airstrip (the Stock Route Airstrip).

That was as far as it went until the mid-to late-seventies, although a smaller side road (Dalrymple Service Road) ran along Vincent's northern boundary and continued past Nathan Street along the northern side of the Heatley State High School campus.

Subsequent extensions of the main Dalrymple Road take it to an intersection where the Garbutt–Upper Ross Road turns south as Thuringowa Drive. Dalrymple Road continues beyond the intersection as a local road.
