The Minimalist View of Australian History
Suggestions that Australia does not have much in the way of history or that the nation's history is inherently 'boring' are a cover for three forms of denial:
- a denial of our actual, rather than our imagined, ancestry;
- a denial of our historical past in a 'move along, nothing to see here' sense, and
- a denial of Australia's connectedness to events and influences in the rest of the world.
