Yanda
The AIATSIS Map of Indigenous Australia places the Yanda (alternatively Janda, Yunda) southeast of Mount Isa, with the Kalkadoon to their northwest, the Wunumara to their northeast, the Guwa to the east, the Maiawali to the southeast, the Pitta-Pitta to the southwest, and the Yalarrnga to the west.
Norman Tindale's Aboriginal Tribes of Australia lists them as the Janda and assigns them 8,000 square kilometres of country north of Warenda around the headwaters of the Hamilton River — a tributary of the Georgina, Toolebuc and Lucknow stations. They were the most easterly group to have practised both circumcision and subincision in their initiation rites.
